Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has assured the state’s darling team, Kwara United Football Club of adequate support as they step up preparations for the 2023/2024 Nigera Premier League (NPL) which has been scheduled to commence next month.
While addressing the technical crew and the players after their training this evening, Friday June 14th, 2023, at the Kwara Football Academy pitch, the Governor, who was represented by the Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Sports Commission, Mallam Bola Magaji reiterated his support for the team.
“Our government will not fail or disappoint you, but you must know that everything will be tied to performance. We want a team that we can be proud of.
“We do not wish for the experience of last season, and that is why we have to prepare and ensure we prepare adequately for the 2023/2024 season.
“For the coaches, you have to work very hard, and ensure you pick the players on merit, as this will also assist your performance at both the short and long run.
The Director of Sports at the Commission, Mallam Bako Ibrahim reminded the coaches and players that playing in the NPL is not a child’s play, charging them to work harder.
“You will all need to be steadfast and disciplined in everything we do. We do not want the coaches and state to fail.
The Secretariat of the club, Mr Tajudeen Oyewale Obalola had earlier charged the technical crew to weed the team of unwanted players, and concentrate on the players that are capable of playing in the league.
In his response, the Technical Adviser of the team, Coach Kabir Sulaiman Dogo thanked the state Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Sports Commission, Mallam Bola Magaji and the new Secretary, Mr Tajudeen Oyewale Obalola for their support.
He pledged that the technical crew and players will work hard to justify the confidence reposed in them in the league and other competitions.
