KWSG to engage youth through sports, as KSFC 2021 kicks off

Kwara State Government has reiterated its commitment to meaningfully engage the youth through sporting activities.

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq stated this Wednesday, at the start of the Kwara School Football Challenge Competition organised by Kwara Football Academy.

Represented by his Deputy, Mr Kayode Alabi, the Governor said, the event would integrate schools and develop unity among the students. Such competitions will also bring about talent discovery among the participating secondary students he added.

Earlier, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth and Sports, Barrister Mrs Funke Banire, commended the organiser, Kwara Football Academy, for allowing students to showcase their talents.

The competition will involve 16 schools across the state and it will run from the 19th to 27th of May with a football quiz among all the participating schools also scheduled to hold on 26th of May.

KSFC is an initiative of Kwara Football Academy anchored on its resolve to discover and nurture football talents to stardom.

Kwara Football Academy defeated Government High School 4-1 in the opening match of the competition.

Thomas Adewunmi College also defeated Government Secondary School, Ilorin 3-1, Saint Anthony School lost 2-4 to Ogele Secondary School, while Federal Government College lost 1-3 to Fiveways College.

Also on the opening day, Unilorin Secondary defeated Government Day Secondary School, Adewole by a lone goal, while Socrates College beat Iqra College by 2-0.
