Goalkeeper Amas Obasogie has strongly refuted allegations of match fixing that resulted in his temporary suspension by Singida Black Stars SC, describing the claims as unfounded and damaging to his integrity.

In a statement addressed to the club’s management, coaching staff, players, supporters, members of o press and the wider football community,oooo Obasogie declared unequivocally that he has never engaged in match manipulation and would never contemplate doing so.

The shot-stopper came under scrutiny following goals conceded in a CAF Confederation Cup clash against Flambeau du Centre and a domestic league fixture against Namungo FC. However, Obasogie maintained that the incidents in question were purely footballing errors rather than acts of deliberate misconduct.

“I accept full responsibility for my performance in those matches,” he stated, “but mistakes on the field must not be mistaken for match manipulation.”

Obasogie, who has represented Nigeria at international level, stressed that he fully understands the grave consequences associated with match fixing. He noted that his reputation, career and personal integrity remain priceless and insisted he would never bring the game, his club or his country into disrepute.

The goalkeeper further expressed his readiness to appear before any disciplinary committee to defend himself and clear his name.

Despite the setback, Obasogie reaffirmed his commitment to Singida Black Stars SC, pledging loyalty and professionalism. He said the club holds significant importance to him and that he retains deep respect for its leadership, technical crew, teammates, supporters and sponsors.

He concluded by urging stakeholders not to equate on-field errors with allegations that question his character, emphasizing his determination to continue serving the club with honour while contributing to its ambitions in both domestic and continental competitions.
