Oloru Angels wins 1st Kwara female volleyball competition

The team of the host Community, Oloru Angels have emerged champions of the maiden edition of the Kwara State Female Volleyball Super Cup Competition, after beating Niger Ravens by two straight set in the final match decided at the Government Secondary School, Oloru on Saturday. 

Oloru 2021 Female Volleyball Super Cup Championship was organised by the Kwara State Volleyball Association, and sponsored by the immediate past Commissioner for Works and Transport, Hon Sulyman Rotimi Iliasu, to complement government’s efforts in sports development efforts.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, the Chairman of the Kwara State Volleyball Association, Hon Bashorun Kayode Bankole commended the sponsor for investing and working towards improving the game of volleyball from the grassroots, noting that the association will not relent in partnering with relevant stakeholders to produce young talented female players through the organisation of different competitions and championships.

Bashorun Bankole also applauded the present administration, under Mallam AbdulRahaman AbdulRazaq, for improving and extending development of sports infrastructure across the state, believing the gesture will not only attract youth to play for fun but also encourage them to develop career in the game.  

Earlier, the Sponsor of the tournament, Hon Sulyman Rotimi Iliasu congratulated all the participants for displaying the spirit of pportsmanhip throughout the tournament, explaining that the competition has achieved the purpose for which it was staged.
 He promised to make it an annual event.

Stakeholders, including members of the Kwara State Volleyball Association, immediate past  Commissioners for Sports and that of Finance, as well as National U-18 female coach attended the final ceremony.
