SSG urges Sports Commission to return Kwara sports to glorious days

The newly appointed Secretary to the Kwara State Government, Alhaji Abdulkadir Mahe has urged the Kwara State Sports Commission to put in more efforts at taking Kwara sports back to its glorious days in the state.

Mahe, while welcoming management of the Commission, led by the Executive Chairman, Coach Bola Mogaji to his office today, September 8, 2023 noted that Kwara state used to be a force to reckon with in sports in the olden days, as he tasked the Commission to put in all it requires to achieve the task.

He lamented that gone were the days when fans and the populace alike used to be proud of Kwara athletes and follow their performances anywhere they go as it brought them a lot of joy.

Nowadays, he went on, it is states like Delta that was created long after Kwara that are making waves in sports adding that Almighty Allah will will guide the Commission under the leadership of Magaji to achieve the ultimate goal.

Responding, Magaji explained that some states that are making waves today are in the habit of poaching Kwara state athletes as assured that necessary machinery are being put in motion to check the trend.

He prayed for God’s guidance to the Secretary to the government in the task his office demandks as he also wished Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq and the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu Gambari God’s guidance and wisdom.

In company of the Executive Chairman to the SSG office are; the Director of Sports, Ibrahim Bako, the Secretary Tsado Haruna and Hon. Yinusa Lade, a Board member.
