It was a magnificent exhibition by Kwara United Football Club today, Thursday July 25th, against Remo Stars in the second match of the day in the ongoing 2024 Valuejet Cup competition in Group B, despite the game ending in a goaless draw.

Kwara United, showcasing a blend of seasoned and new players, demonstrated a style of football that captivated the spectators in Ikenne.

Despite their skillful display, they were unfortunate not to find the back of the net, with Shola AbdulRaheem and Ifeanyi Ogba’s efforts thwarted by the Ghanaian goalkeeper, Emmanuel Ofori, in the 32nd minute.

Maintaining possession and executing precise passes with fluidity, Kwara United encountered obstacles in converting their opportunities into goals due to the resilience of Remo Stars.

The substitution of Wasiu Alalade, Ibrahim Deinde, and Victor Adeoye for Ifeanyi Ogba, Joshua Ogbole, and Oladayo Gbolaga in the 53rd minute injected renewed attacking prowess into the team, intensifying the club’s determination and drive.

The introduction of the new goalkeeper, Nurudeen Badmus, a former U17 and U23 shot stopper, proved to be pivotal as he thwarted any potential threats from Remo Stars in the closing moments.

Addressing the press post-game, Coach Tunde Sanni, deputizing for Coach Kabir Dogo, acknowledged areas for improvement that the technical team has identified as the championship progresses. He assured fans that the team’s scoring capabilities will be refined in the upcoming matches.
