The Turaki of Ilorin, Mallam Saliu Mustapha has pledged to continue to support the development of humanity through sports, as a way of not only giving back to the society, but encouraging social interaction.
Speaking to journalists yesterday during the final of the Emirate Football Competition as part of the annual Durbar celebrate at the Main-Bowl of the Kwara State Stadium Complex, he pledged to sustain the gesture.
He commended Kwara United FC for their exploits in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), pledging total support to the team.
“I will continue to support our darling team, Kwara United Football Club, as a way of giving back to the system, and also believing that the support will ensure they get the necessary advantages in the league, that will guarantee continental ticket.
Mallam Saliu Mustapha, who is the Kwara Central Senatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the forthcoming 2023 General elections yesterday paid for 3000 tickets for fans to watch Kwara United FC against MFM FC on Sunday in Ilorin.
He has equally pledged to pay the match bonus to the players, even as he urged them to ensure they win, and also win well.
“We believe that doing so will encourage the needed massive home support that will motivate them to give their utmost best against MFM FC on Sunday.
“We are just starting, and we hope to do more for the team.
Meanwhile, Mallam Saliu Mustapha has congratulated the winners of the Durbar Football Competition, pointing out that organizing such a competition enhances harmony within the Emirate, and also promotes national heritage.
Mallam Saliu Mustapha gave out N500,000 to the winners of the competition. He also gave the first and second runners ups N300,000 and N200,000 respectively.
