A foremost football stakeholder and Chairman of Katsina State Football Association, Alhaji Aminu Balele Kurfi has identified that fans will play a crucial role in the decisive 2022 World Cup Qualification encounter between the Super Eagles and the Black Stars of Ghana in Abuja on Tuesday.

Speaking to newsmen on the aftermath of the first leg at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi, which was filled to capacity, Alhaji Balele, popularity known as ‘Dan Arewa’ expressed displeasure with the decision of the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to charge gate fees for the reverse fixture in Abuja.

Alhaji Balele, who is a member of NFF Technical Committee said that he was very impressed with the performance of the Super Eagles in Kumasi on Friday evening.

He informed that football loving Nigerians are looking forward to the second leg with great optimism, but the gate fees should be made free for football fans to cheerfully support the Super Eagles.

“Getting a goalless draw in Kumasi is a good one. Look at how their stadium was filled to capacity of 40,000 fans. It is better for NFF to throw the gates open for fans to watch free at Abuja national stadium,” Kurfi said.

“Making the least ticket to be N2,000.00 is on the high side for lots of people that wants to come and watch the game,” he added.

“We need to mobilize Nigerians all over Abuja, Nasarawa, Kaduna, Kano and other states to be at the stadium to support the Super Eagles. How much will be raised from the gates to compensate for not winning the World Cup ticket, he asked.

While calling for sacrifice, Alhaji Balele said that he will mobilize Mike Adenuga, Dahiru Mangal, Alhaji Aminu Dangote, his friends and other corporate individuals to pay for the tickets and give them to Nigerians for free, to ensure that the stadium is filled up on Tuesday.

“May be I should get kind hearted Nigerians to have a meeting with the NFF to buy off all the match tickets, so that these football fans can be at the stadium without stressing themselves financially.

“We have to sacrifice that money for us to have easy passage to Qatar. Nigeria need to be in Qatar, to compensate for the efforts of the young and talented players we have in the team”, he added.
