5th First Lady U-14 Inter-Local Government table tennis tourney holds in Oke-Oyi

The fifth edition of Kwara First Lady, Ambassador Professor (Mrs) Olufolake AbdulRazaq U-14 table tennis championship has been scheduled to hold at Oke-Oyi, Ilorin East Local Government Area of Kwara State.

The competition, tagged “Mummy Olufolake Catch them young, Ilorin East 2024” will hold between Tuesday September3rd to Thursday September 5th, 2024.

The grassroots table tennis development initiative, instituted in honour of the First Lady of Kwara state is being organized by Grassroots Sports Association, also known as Adebay Sports International, under the Chairmanship of Comrade Dare Omowumi Adebayo.

It’s being organised in conjunction with the Office of the First Lady, Kwara state, in affiliation with the State Sports Commission, and supported by the Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON), Kwara State chapter.

The Organiser, Dare Adebayo commended Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for creating and sustaining the needed atmosphere for youth and sports to strive in the state, and Her Excellency, Ambassador Professor (Mrs) Olufolake AbdulRazaq for creating the forum for talents to be discovered at the grassroots.

He said that the competition was introduced a long time ago, as the platform from which most of the present state table tennis players were discovered.

Adebayo added that apart from the Organisation of the competition, they have equally donated table tennis boards and other kits to the 16 Local Government Area, in a bid to totally aid the discovery of talents at the grassroots.

He said that the competition will be staged outside llorin for the third time, after Omu-Aran in 2022 and Bode Saadu, Moro Local Government Area in 2023, as a way of bridging the gap and promoting unity in diversity, which he says, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRasak stood for since his assumption of office.

He commended the Commissioner Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Community Development; Chairmen of the 16 Local Government Area, the Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Sports Commission and other, for supporting the initiative.
