Abubakar Bukola Saraki (ABS) Ilorin FC will begin their 2026/2027 NNL campaign against Sokoto United tomorrow Saturday, November 7, at the Rashidi Yekini Main-Bowl, George Agbazika Innih Stadium Complex, Ilorin, with kick-off scheduled for 4:00 pm.
The Saraki Boys will be looking to make a winning start to the new season in front of their home supporters as they embark on their quest for promotion to the NPFL.
Previous meeting between both sides favour ABS Ilorin FC, who have recorded two victories in their last four meetings, with another ending in a draw.
The Saraki Boys will also draw confidence from last season opener against Sokoto United on November 15, 2025, when Sa’ad Jamiu’s decisive strike secured a 1-0 victory for the Ilorin-based side.
ABS FC completed a league double over their Sokoto-based opponents with another 1-0 victory at the Giginya Memorial Stadium, Sokoto, on the final day of last season. The crucial away triumph ensured the Saraki Boys retained their NNL status.
Ahead of Saturday’s encounter, Head Coach Festus Allen has expressed confidence in his team’s readiness, insisting that his players are physically, emotionally and psychologically prepared for the challenge.
The Saraki Boys rounded off their preparation on Tuesday with a 1-0 victory over NPFL side Kwara United. Forward Dosunmu Abdulqudri scored the decisive goal in the fourth minute to give ABS FC a morale-boosting result ahead of the new campaign.
Allen explained that the club’s extensive pre-season programme, which featured opponents with different tactical, technical and physical approaches, had provided the technical crew with valuable insights into the team’s strengths, weaknesses and areas requiring improvement.
Speaking ahead of the encounter, the tactician expressed confidence in his team’s readiness and reaffirmed their determination to secure maximum points.
“Honestly, we are ready. Our message is simple: By the special grace of God, we are going for victory. We will not disappoint our supporters and management. We are determined to deliver the expected three points,” Allen said.
