*Says the Presidency and football-loving Nigerians are rooting for the team
The Hon. Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Owan Enoh has sent a congratulatory message to the Senior Men’s National Team of Nigeria, the Super Eagles, following their remarkable victory against Cote D’Ivoire yesterday.
In a statement, Senator Enoh expressed his delight with the team’s improved performance, promised to Nigerians after their first game.
“The victory against Cote d’Ivoire is commendable, and defeating the host nation is a good sign of the team’s exceptional capabilities,” remarked Senator John Owan Enoh.
“The President and football-loving people of the Federal Republic of Nigeria are all rooting for you to stay victorious until the end. We all believe in you, It’s in you to win all through. Keep winning through all stages and bring home the trophy. We have done it before, and we can do it again. Let’s do it again!”
The Minister highlighted the collective support of the nation and urged the Super Eagles to continue in the same spirit throughout the competition. He expressed confidence in the team’s ability to overcome challenges and bring pride to Nigeria by clinching the championship.
As the tournament progresses, Senator John Owan Enoh encouraged the players and coaches to maintain their focus, determination, and team spirit. He concluded by extending heartfelt congratulations to the entire Nigerian ecosystem, saying it is a win all Nigerians can revel in.
William Troost-Ekong scored the only goal of the game from the penalty spot, after Africa’s best, Victor Osimhen was hacked down. The Nigerian side will take on Guinea-Bissau in their last group game, on Monday, January 22nd.
