Ardent football promoter, Engr. Olaide Ahmed conferred with fellow of Nigerian Institution of Civil Engineers

An ardent football promoter and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Cyteck Engneering Construction and Technology Limited, Engineer Olaide Ahmed has been confered with a fellow of Nigerian Institution of Civil Engineers (NICE).

The astute Engineer and advocate of inclusive football development received the prestigious award alongside 56 other honorees across the Nation in Abuja on Wednesday night.

The elevation to the position of fellow for the Ilorin-born Engineer is a testament to his towering status in the profession and years of meritorious service to the cause of uplifting the standard of the engineering in Nigeria.

Confirming his new status, Engr. Olaide, who is among the only three recipients from Kwara State thank Almighty Allah for the opportunity and described the moment as one of the best of his life.

“It’s one of the best moments of my life. I thank Almighty Allah for the opportunity. I am also indebted to my late parents for their support and I appreciate my wife and family for standing by me”, he said.

Speaking further, he noted that his new status comes with an oath of allegiance of a continued commitment to raising the standard of the profession, a cause to which he said, he is ever committed to.

“This elevation comes with a lot of commitment and I want to assure the leadership and members of the NICE that I will always work towards raising the bar of this noble profession”

A trained highways and traffic engineering expert, Engr. Olaide is reputed for his philantopic gesture and fondly admired by all and sundry for his immense suppprt to football development at the grassroots level in Kwara State.

Among many other commitments, CYTECK Engineering, his company is the major sponsor of the Kwara Kiddies YEG League where over 500 kids across 12 different teams are actively engaged in football activities.

The Nigerian Institution of Civil Engineers is the umbrella body of all Nigerian Civil Engineers. It is dedicated to promoting civil engineering profession and inter relationship with other branches of engineering in Nigeria and in the Diaspora.

The institution is made up of professionals drawn from all fields of civil engineering including construction engineering, structural engineering, highway engineering, geotechnics and water resources engineering. NICE is the largest division of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE).

By the virtue of his new status, Engr. Olaide, who is a product of the University of Ilorin and University of Lagos will now have the appendage of (Fellow Nigerian Institution of Civil Engineers) FNICE added to his name.
