Kwara govt reiterates resolve to upgrade Oloffa Stadium

Kwara state government has again reiterated its resolve to upgrade and modernise the Oloffa Stadium, in Offa Local Government Area of the state.

The state government had edged to provide a credible alternative to the Kwara State Stadium Complex, with the upgrading and modernisation of the Offa Stadium late last year, to reduce the presuure on the stadium situated at IbrahimTaiwo Road in Ilorin.

Reiterating the resolve of his government towards the actualization of that promise, Kwara Governor,  Malam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq,  at a Town Hall Meeting in Offa on Thursday commended the community for its giant strides in sports.

At the Town Hall meeting, the Governor said there are solid footprints of his administration in every part of the state, whether in education, road infrastructure, water, health, employments, gender inclusion and youth engagement, safety nets for the poor, sports and economic projects designed to grow the state.

“On Offa township stadium, we are serious about that. We will make sure work commences as soon as possible. It is a gradual step. We will also see how we can accommodate volleyball, for which Offa is globally known for”, he said.

He congratulated the Offa Volleyball Club for being the National League Champions, and the Offa football team for their excellent display in the recent outings.

It would be recalled that the Stadium had previously hosted Premier League matches involving both Kwara United and ABS FC, as it was approved by the NFF to host league matches.

The Stadium is currently the home ground of Offa based Nationwide League outfit, Offa FC. The pitch of the Main-Bowl of the Kwara State Stadium Complex is currently being re-grassed by Greenwood Nigeria Limited, and is being bankrolled by Barrister A. U. Mustapha.
