Kwara United Football Club will tomorrow, Wednesday March 15, 2023, take on Abubakar Bukola Saraki (Ilorin) Football Club in the final of this year’s Federation Cup, at the Kwara Football Academy pitch, beginning from 4.00pm.

Kwara United, who are the defending champions defeated SGFC Athletics 3-2 in the semi-final match, to qualify for the final. The team was drawn bye into the semi-final.

ABS FC was equally drawn bye into the semi-final, where they defeated Foresight Academy 5-1, to pick the final ticket.

By winning the semi-finals, both teams have already secured a ticket to represent the state in the national competition.

In a message to the team ahead of the final, Kwara United General Manager, Bashir Badawiy charged the team to sustain their winning status in the competition, by lifting the trophy.

He equally tasked the team to brace up for the challenges at the national Federation Cup, adding that the team needs to work hard to break the jinx this time around.

Asides the defunct Alyuf Salam Rocks that reached the final of the nation’s Premier competition in 1976, no team from the state has gone beyond the semi-finals. Alyuf Salam Rocks lost the final 2-0 to Enugu Rangers.

Badawiy therefore, called for the support of the state government, led by Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the Sports Commission and the stakeholders, towards the realization of the objective.

Also today, the final of the Female Federation Cup final will hold between Kwara Ladies FC and Moje Queens of Erin-Ile, at the same venue, beginning from 2.00pm.
