The draw and fixtures for this year’s State Football Association Cup, otherwise known as the Federation Cup has been made available by the Kwara State Football Association, after the exercise that was witnessed by club representatives and the Organising Committee earlier today.
The draw and fixtures were conducted at the Alhaji Usman Shehu Mustapha Football House, Kwara State Stadium Complex, Ilorin.
According to the FA, six teams registered to participate in the male version, while only two registered for the female competition. The two female teams are Kwara Ladies FC and Moje Queens of Erin-Ile.
The male teams are the defending champions, Kwara United FC, Abubakar Bukola Saraki (Ilorin FC), Dickalo FA, SGFC Athletics, Foresight FA and House Of Prayers.
Kwara United and ABS FC Ilorin are drawn Bye, while SGFC Athletics will take on House Of Prayer in the first match on Wednesday 8th of March 2023. Foresight will trade tackles with Dickalo FA on Thursday 9th March, 2023, with the winners qualifying for the semi-finals.
Kwara United FC will play the winner of the match between SGFC Athletics and House of Prayers in the first semi-final on Tuesday 14th March 2023, as ABS Ilorin FC is expected to play the winner of the Dickalo FA and Foresight FA tie in the second semi-final match on Wednesday 15th March, 2023.
The final matches for both male and female competitions have been fixed for Sunday 19th March, 2023.
In his message after the draw and fixtures, the FA Chairman, Mallam Idris Abdullahi Musa charged the clubs to play in accordance with the rules, and also promote good display that will give credence to the competition.
He commended the teams for sustaining the culture of the age-long competition with their participation, adding that the FA will continue to do all within its reach to add value to the competition to make it more attractive.
He called on well-meaning Kwarans and philanthropists to come to the aid of the FA, in terms of sponsorship and support.
