Kwara Football Academy graduate, Godwin Oshagbemi who scored the winning goal for Kwara United FC in the Matchday Nine of the NPFL against El-kanemi Warriors in far away Maiduguri has expressed delight with the opportunity of scoring one of the most important goals of his young career.
Speaking to journalists today at the Secretariat of Kwara United, Oshagbemi, popularly known as Kogi hopes the goal would be a breakthrough in his professional career.
David Nneji had scored for the homers in the 20th minute, while Jide Fatokun scored the equalizer for Kwara United early in the second half. Oshagbemi went on to score the winning goal to secure the whole maximum points, been the first away win for the club this season, with a long range effort.
“I am very excited scoring one of the most important goals of my career, and I will want to commend my senior and most senior teammates for their support. I will also want to thank the management and the coaches for having confidence in me.
“It was my first professional goal, and very crucial because it did not only win us the match, it also lifted the club up on the ladder. If we had lost, we would have been down there, which will keep us under more pressure in the second round.
Kwara United, at the beginning of the season signed the trio of Godwin Oshagbemi, Abubakar Garba and Sunday Chinedu from the Kwara Football Academy, and registered them for the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) as junior players.
“The goal is equally important to my career, and has motivated me in giving my best to the club. It’s also a motivation for the upcoming players who may have such opportunities”, he averred. I will also want to thank the Kwara Football Academy for giving me the opportunity.
