Kwara United FC today sustains their good run in the 2020/2021 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season with a 2-0 win over visiting Plateau United FC of Jos, at the Main-Bowl of the Kwara State Stadium Complex, Ilorin.

Second half goals from Jide Fatokun and Stephen Jude, in the 48th and 80th minutes respectively, ensured the homers complete the double against their North Central rivals, having defeated the team 2-0 in the very first match of the season in Jos.

Plateau United, which stormed Ilorin with the intention of winning and avenging the home loss to Kwara United FC were able to curtail all the constant menacing moves of Kwara United in the first half, even though they were close to scoring a goal, to underscore their seriousness.

They were unable to sustain their rescilience beyond the 48th minute, as the goal seemed to bring down their morale. The second goal in the 80th minute silenced whatever hope they had nursed prior to the encounter.

Immediately after the first half, Coach Abdullahi Biffo brought in the duo of Olawale Farayola and Joshua Agboola, to replace Issa Gata and Chisom Samuel respectively, obviously to open up the wings, which eventually paid off.

Much later, Wasiu Alalade was brought in to replace Michael Ohanu, while Ayobami Junior came in for Stephen Jude, to further pile pressure on Plateau United.

Plateau United had earlier introduced home boy, AbdulRahman Bashir, to increase and broaden their attacking options, but the brilliance of Christopher Nwaeze, Ejeh Isaiah, Muritala Lawal and Kabir Balogun in the defence was too much for Plateau United’s attempts.

With the win, Kwara United now have 39 points from 21 matches.

While analysing the game, Coach Abdullahi Biffo said that his boys utilised their chances, even as he downplayed the fact that his team completed the double against Plateau United.

He also added that despite the smooth sail in the league, his team is still an underdog in the title race, adding that they will continue to win games, so as to end the season on a good note.

The Chief Coach of Plateau United, Coach Maurice said that his team played to the best of their abilities, but were overwhelmed by the good display of Kwara United FC.
