Kwara United will on Sunday, 7th September 2025, welcome league debutants, Kun Khalifa FC in a Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Matchday 3 clash at the Rashidi Yekini Main-Bowl of the George Agbazika Innih Stadium, Ilorin.
Kick-off is slated for 4:00pm.
The Harmony Boys will be looking to bounce back to winning ways after falling 1–0 to Rivers United in Port Harcourt on Matchday 2. The team’s sharpness and tactical discipline at training sessions this week point to a renewed determination to secure maximum points at home.
This will be the first-ever meeting between Kwara United and Kun Khalifa FC. Despite facing a debutant side, Head Coach Tunde Sanni insists that his team is not underestimating their opponents.
“We are approaching this fixture with the seriousness it deserves. Our focus is to deliver a strong performance and start picking points without delay,” Coach Sanni said.
The coach is expected to make changes to his starting lineup, with Akanni Akeem, and Saheed Olaniyi declared fit and available for selection. In addition, Nurudeen Badmus and Afeez Bankole have rejoined the squad after completing national duty at the CHAN tournament.

The team has been handed a huge boost as star winger Aisosa Junior Aimufua, popularly known as Junior, is finally back in action. The winger missed the opening two games of the 2025/26 NPFL season after picking up an injury during the ValueJet pre-season tournament in Ikenne.
Now, he’s ready to step back on the pitch, and it’s coming right at home in front of the Kwara United fans as they take on Kun Khalifat this weekend.
Junior was one of the standout performers for the Harmony Boys last season, scoring 5 goals and providing 6 assists, but more than the numbers, it was his pace, energy, and flair both on and off the ball that made him a nightmare for defenders.
Junior can take on his man, deliver dangerous crosses, and sometimes go for goal himself. That’s the kind of spark Kwara United have been missing in the first two games, and his return is sure to lift the team and the fans.
