The Acting Director of Sports, Coach Alarape Ibrahim Atanda on Monday held an emergency meeting with the members of the Technical Department, who includes Coaches, Honorary Coaches and Supportive Technical Officers, to chart a new course.
The meeting, which took place at the Conference Room of the Sports Council, was held under strict Covid-19 protocols.
While thanking the officials for their support, he reminded them of the huge challenges ahead, and the need to step up preparations to kick-start activities within their various sports associations.
Coach Alarape further informed them of the desire of the Council to establish a web data base of all athletes and staffers of the Council.
According to him, the data base would comprise information and statistics of athletes, coaches, competitions, laurels won at different competitions and other related issues, and it would be open to the public to assess.
‘This is to allow people to follow the activities of the Council, as it would also afford us the opportunity to showcase our own sports ambassadors’, he added.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Coach Alarape said that a platform would be instituted, where technical information and question and answer session could be held, to keep the technical men abreast of new trends in the world of sports.
He also used the occasion to commend and congratulate the former Director of Sports, Coach Tunde Kazeem, on his retirement.
It would be recalled that Coach Alarape assumed the leadership of the Council following the retirement of Coach Tunde Kazeem on July 1, 2020.
