There would be no show of love on Valentine’s Day as ABS Ilorin FC look to get back to winning ways when they take on Mighty Jets in a crucial Nigeria National League (NNL) clash on Saturday in Ilorin.
The Saraki Boys head into the encounter determined to bounce back after a difficult run of results, with Acting Head Coach, Ogundeji Joel expressing confidence in the team’s readiness for the task ahead.
Speaking to the Club Media, the gaffer revealed that preparations have been intense, with several friendly matches played to address the team’s shortcomings.
“I have seen all the players, the coaching crew, everyone is ready. We’ve prepared well, played a lot of friendly games, we’ve corrected our mistakes and I’m happy to say that we are ready to approach the game tomorrow,” he said.
ABS will also be driven by the memory of the reverse fixture, where they suffered a 3–0 defeat to Mighty Jets in Jos on Matchday 7. Saturday’s tie offers the Saraki Boys a chance to respond and restore confidence among their supporters.
Recent meetings between both sides favour the visitors. Mighty Jets have won four of the last seven encounters, losing just once and recording two draws, with their most recent victory being the 3–0 triumph on December 20, 2025.
ABS FC on the other hand, have managed just one win over Mighty Jets in that period, which came on June 18, 2022, alongside two draws. The last time Mighty Jets visited Ilorin, on December 16, 2023, the match ended in a goalless stalemate.
The Matchday 8 encounter of the NNL 2025/2026 second stanza is scheduled to kick off at 3pm at the Rashidi Yekini Main-Bowl of the George Agbazika Innih Stadium, Ilorin, Kwara State.
