The Zonal Coordinators and Directors of Sports in the North Central zone has recognised the Kwara State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq with Award of Excellence.
The award was to appreciate the laudable efforts of the Governor in sports development, especially in the area of sports facilities and prompt release of funds for competition attendance.
While receiving the award, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, who was represented by his Deputy, Mr Kayode Alabi commended the Directors for recognising the contributions of the government in the development of youth and sports.
He reiterated government’s determination to continue to support sports development, as well as the creation of the enabling atmosphere for sports participation with the provision of the needed facilities.
According to the Directors, the trend has highly boosted the morale of the state’s athletes and also, contributed o the improved performance of the state at the last National Sports Festival in Benin, Edo state.
Led by Mr Akeem Saka of the Federal Ministry of Sports and Youth Development, the Directors were in Ilorin to inspect facilities at the University of Ilorin, ahead of the forthcoming National Youth Games in October.
