The finals of the 2026 Naval Officers’ Wives Association (NOWA) U-17 Girls Cup and Chief of Naval Staff (CNS) U-14 Boys Cup have been confirmed, following exciting semi-final encounters at Government College, Umuahia, Abia State.
In the NOWA U-17 Girls competition, Abia secured a place in the final with a 2–0 victory over Cross River, while Ondo edged Rivers 1–0 in the second semi-final.
The results have set up an exciting final between Abia and Ondo, scheduled for 2:00pm on Sunday, September 13, 2026, at Government College, Umuahia.
In the CNS U-14 Boys Cup, Anambra survived a tense semi-final against Edo, winning 5–4 on penalties after the regulation period ended 1–1.
Anambra will now face Abia, who booked their place in the final with a narrow 1–0 victory over Kaduna.
The CNS U-14 Boys final will kick off at 4:00pm tomorrow Sunday, September 13, at the same venue.
The third-place match in the CNS U-14 Boys competition will see Edo battle Kaduna at 12:00 noon, while the NOWA U-17 Girls third-place encounter will be between Cross River and Rivers.
The finals will bring together key personalities from government, sports and the Nigerian military establishment, with the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idris Abbas, and the President of the Naval Officers’ Wives Association (NOWA), Hajia Aisha Abbas, listed among the Special Guests of Honour.
Other dignitaries expected include all the Service Chiefs; Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio; Speaker of the House of Representatives; Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Chioma Otti; Chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Alhaji Shehu Dikko; NSC Director-General, Bukola Olopade; the NFF Technical Director; and the Abia State Commissioner for Sports and Youth, Sir Nwaobilor Ananaba.
The closing day is expected to provide a fitting climax to the youth football competitions, which have continued to provide a platform for young talents from across the country to compete, gain exposure and develop their football careers.
The partnership between the Youth Sports Federation of Nigeria (YSFON), the Nigerian Navy and NOWA has once again brought youth football development into focus, with the competitions serving not only as a battle for honours but also as an important talent-identification platform.
