Kwara United FC put up a scintillating performance to record their second away win, as they beat hard fighting but uncoordinated Suñshine Stars 1-2, in a Week Nine NPFL encounter at the Akure Township Stadium today.

Sunshine Stars showed a lot of seriousness, especially struggling to redeem their image following their 4-1 loss to Abia Warriors in previous encounter.

Kwara United FC showed a lot of maturity and calmness, keeping fast and energetic Sodeeq Yusuf and Fuad Ekelojuoti away from concentrated area in most part of the first half.

Yusuf came close to scoring a goal mid-way into the first half, as his chip in, off a corner kick, kissed the bar.

The combination of Jide Fatokun, Afeez Nosir and Stephen Jude in the midfield for Kwara United was becoming too much for the homers, as the game wears on.

Sunshine Stars drew the first blood in the 51st minute, through Sodeeq Yusuf, who created a space at the far side, to drive in a low cross into the net.

The euphoria welcoming the goal was still on air when substitute Issa Gata, who had been introduced six minutes earlier, dribbled two defenders before getting the better part of ……..in goal for Sunshine Stars, for the equalizer.

The equalizer forced me homers to effect two quick changes, and that had little effect on their search for a win, as they make more mistakes, especially in the middle.

Mercurial midfielder, Stephen Jude scored the winning goal for the Harmony Boys, and another substitute, Kabir Adeniji would have increased the tally in the 89th minutes.

After the introduction of Gata, Kwara United FC made three other changes, with Kabir Adeniji coming in for Ohanu, Farayola Olawale coming in for Chisom, while Ufere Chinedu replaced Stephen Jude.

Club Chairman, Kumbi Titiloye, who also watched the game, commended the players for winning their second away game, and also extending the team’s unbeaten run to seven.

He motivated the team after the encounter.

After losing to Rivers United in Port Harcourt, Kwara United FC have not lost any match, both home and away.

With the win, Kwara United FC is in second position behind Enyimba FC, which defeated Plateau United yesterday in Aba.
Meanwhile, Mallam Olatunji Mohammed, the Proprietor of El-Lado Mass Transport has charged the players and coaches of Kwara United FC to remain consistent, coordinated and focused, ahead of future challenges, even as he congratulated them for beating Sunshine Stars.

Mallam Olatunji, who came to Akure all the way from Asaba to watch the game also motivated them before the match, and promised to do more, because of his love for team.
