Offa football stakeholders seek leagues harmonization, support for Nationwide League teams

Football stakeholders in Offa Local Government Area of Kwara state have called for the unification of the various league competitions in the town, stepping it up with the planned setting up of a Committee for the harmonization.

The decision, among many others were contained in a communique drawn at the end of the meeting of all football family in Offa and the Offa Football Council, being led by Alhaji Lawal Adebisi Wasiu (Okhoro), at Anglican Comprehensive College, Offa on Tuesday July 25th, 2023.

Among the stakeholders are Coaches, Referees, Club Owners, Representatives of Women League, Players Union and Football Organizers. 

The 12 point communique, signed by the Football Council Chairman, Alhaji Lawal Adebisi Wasiu and his Secretary, Chief O. O. Oyawoye also charged teams to always have proper record of their players through formal registration.

The gathering sued for total support of all for the two Nationwide League teams in the town, Offa Football Club and Leycon FA, and equally agreed that players scouted by prominent teams be released to forge ahead.

The Football Council tasked the Organizers to always notified it before organizing any football competition in the community, even as teams are also urged to notified the Council of any football tournament outside of there domain, before going to such competitions.

The meeting registered in support of regular meeting, as well as the organization of seminars for the coaches and players from time to time, and believing that discipline should always be the watchword for coaches, players and referees.

In his opening address, the Chairman of the Football Council, Alhaji Lawal Adebisi Wasiu had briefed the stakeholders that the Council was put in place through the election that took place earlier in ilorin.

He introduced other members who were elected with him. They include Mrs F. O. T Lawal (Vice Chairman), Haji Alhassan Garba (member), Mr Adebisi Adegoke Muideen (member) and Mr T. K. Badmus (member). The Chairman in his capacity, appointed Chief O. O. Oyawoye and Mr Lekan Olatinwo G. O. as Secretary and Assistant Secretary respectfully.

He also averred that the election at the state level led to the emergence of Mallam Idris Abdullah Musa (Turaya) as Chairman of the Kwara State Football Association.

Offa Football Council was inaugurated on Wednesday July 12th, 2023, at the Offa Local Government Area Secretariat, by the Transition Implementation Committee (TIC) Chairman, Hon. Jare Olatundun, who pledged to support the Football Council.

He equally pledged to put the Oloffa Stadium in order, to encourage total participation in football and other sports. He commended Kwara FA for conducting credible elections, both at Councils and state levels.
