Essence of exercise stressed at 22nd monthly keep fit for MINILS’ staffers

The Director-General of the Michael Imuodu National Institute for Labour Studies (MINILS), Comrade Issa Aremu has said that the monthly keep fit exercise introduced for members of staff of the institute has impacted positively on staff fitness, and is equally reflecting on productivity.

The Comrade, who led other staffers of the institute to observe the 22nd edition of the keep fit today, July 22nd, 2023, at the premises of the institute also added that MINILS has sustained the culture, as a way of enhancing punctuality.

He said that the institute is planning a Special Anniversary Sports Fiesta as part of activities to mark the 40th anniversary of the institute in October this year.

Comrade Aremu, who introduced the monthly keep fit programme when he resumed at the MINILS added that its introduction has been justified, with the directive by the Head of Service to all MDGs and Agencies to be having monthly keep fit to assist productivity.

He added that the exercise is a critical success factor, as it enhances the productivity and fitness of the work force, and keeping in tune with the renewed hope of the present administration.

A Public Administrator and Analyst, Mallam Abdullahi Ibrahim, who also participated in the keep fit exercise charged Nigerians to imbibe the spirit of trekking some distances daily, as it make the body organs function well.

Describing exercise as medicine on its own, he said that keeping fit reduces or eradicates the risks of been knocked down by sicknesses, especially when ageing.

After the observation of walking, jogging and flexibility exercises coordinated by Coach Olaniyi Awe of the Kwara State Athletics Association, Pharmacist Lanre Alege reminded the participants that exercise is a stimulant that should be done regularly.

He commended the Director-General, Comrade Issa Aremu, the management staff and staffers of the institute for sustaining the culture.

Asides the exercise, the participants also participated in other games like table tennis, tennis, football and others.
