Defending champions, Kwara United Football Club, will begin the defence of their President Federation Cup title against Abuja-based Sporting Supreme U-19 in Ayangba, following the draws for the Round of 64 conducted by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

The Harmony Boys were paired against the youthful Abuja side in what promises to be an exciting opening fixture as the Ilorin-based club sets out on another quest for national cup glory.

The encounter is scheduled for next Wednesday in Ayangba, Kogi State, with the defending champions expected to approach the game with seriousness despite facing a relatively younger side.

Kwara United head into the Federation Cup clash in impressive form, having remained unbeaten in their last five matches in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), a run that has boosted confidence within the squad ahead of the title defence.

According to fixtures released by the NFF in Abuja, kick-off times and further details for all Round of 64 matches have been communicated to participating teams.

Reacting to the draw, Kwara United Coach, Ashifat Suleiman, expressed confidence in his players’ readiness and determination to continue their fine run in both domestic competitions.

“We are ready for the championship. We are not underrating any team and we will approach the game with a winning mentality,” Suleiman stated.

The coach also appealed to supporters, stakeholders and football lovers in Kwara State to continue rallying behind the team as they aim to successfully defend the title won last season.

Kwara United made history after emerging champions in the previous edition of the President Federation Cup, a feat widely celebrated across the state and beyond.

The club is expected to face a demanding travel schedule next week, with the Federation Cup tie in Ayangba coming up on Wednesday before the team proceeds to Yenagoa for their final NPFL fixture of the season against Bayelsa United next Sunday.
