Sports stakeholders mourn, as Veteran Kwara basketball coach passes on

Condolences have continued to pour in as Veteran basketball coach, Steve Olaniyi Onishola exits this sinful world today, aged 71.
The coach, sportsbash.com.ng learnt, has been sick for a while, and had been at the hospital.
Confirming the demise today, Kwara State Basketball Association, through it’s Chairman, Dr. Joseph Adeyemo passed away after illness.

The deceased was the Technical Director of the state Basketball Premier League team, Kwara Falcons.

According to the association, the late  coach also managed the club on several occasions before becoming the Technical Director, and was part the Kwarà Falcons team that secured promotion to the elite Division in 2013, and also, the silver winning team at the 2018 edition of the Kwese Premier League.

Late Coach Onishola was also among the first set of Falcons Basketball Club that started in Kwara State in the 70s and 80s.
‘We are very sad by this unfortunate incidence, and in fact, we cannot find the right word to describe the demise of Coach Onishola. He was the symbol of basketball in Kwara State. He was one of the most brilliant coaches of the game in Nigeria.

‘The entire basketball family extend it’s deepest condolences to the family and tge loved ones of late Coach Onishola’, Dr Adeyemo said in his statement.
Condolences have been pouring in from within and outside the state since the demise of the Coach.
