Super Eagles and Nottingham Forest striker, Taiwo Awoniyi, has sent gifts of food items to sports journalists in Kwara, while also not leaving out other less privileged in the society.
According to the player, the gesture is meant to show the spirit of the festive period.
“Christmas is a time to show love, compassion and kindness to all men and the little token is to show that I am with our people in spirit even if I can be available physically,” he said.
Reacting, Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Kwara State Chapter, commended the Nottingham Forest player for the gesture.
Mallam Ayodeji Ismail, SWAN chairman, praised the former Union Berlin star for his thoughtful gift to people and journalists.
He added that Awoniyi has once again shown how much he loves journalists in his state and that the association will always be grateful for his kind gestures.
“Awoniyi has once again demonstrated his generosity and regard for the fourth estate of the realm with his thoughtful gesture.
“We remember that he celebrated the 58th birthday of Mallam Bayour Issah, one of our fathers, by presenting him with a brand-new car,” Ayodeji.
