You are great ambassadors of Kwara, Nigeria -Emir of Okuta tells Kwara United

The Emir of Okuta, who is also the Chairman of Baruten Traditional Council, His Royal Majesty, Alhaji (Hon) Dr. Idris Abubakar (Kperogi Afon Totiri) has commended the players and officials of Kwara United Football Club for doing the state and nation proud in Benin Republic.

The Monarch, apart from mobilising Nigerian in and outside the country to cheer Kwara United in the two matches played at the Stade OmniSports de Nikki, was also present at the Stadium alongside some of his Chiefs, to support the team against Cavaliers FC.

Kwara United ended their camping and friendly tour of Benin Republic yesterday, after a draw against Cavaliers FC of Nikki on Saturday, and a 1-0 victory over Buffles FC of Parakou on Sunday.

While welcoming the team back to Nigeria today, August 21, 2023, at his Palace, the Emir described the players as great ambassadors of Kwara State and Nigeria, and worthy champions.

“You are indeed, good ambassadors of our dear state and Nigeria. You all showed the spirit of a Nigerian. I watched your game against Cavaliers FC, and I must say that I was highly impressed.

“In your attitude, display and disposition, I am very proud to associate with you, because we were not put to shame in all ramifications.

The Emir equally commended the coaches for building a solid and disciplined team, adding that, “you have wriiten an exam, and the result has come out good.

The Chairman of Kwara FA, Mallam Idris Abdullahi Musa said that the team visited the Palace to seek for the support of the Emir when going to Benin Republic, and its imperative to also bade him farewell when returning back to Ilorin.

The Technical Adviser, Coach Kabir Sulaiman Dogo thanked the Emir for the hospitality, support, prayers and the blessings bestowed on the team, especially as they prepare for the 2023-2024 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
