AbraySports FC wins Alyuf Salam memorial competition, as Pro-Games honour late Danboyi, Fashikun, others

New entrants into Kwara football market, AbraySports Football Club (Super Pioneers) announced their presence yesterday, winning their first major trophy in the state, as they defeated Barrier Football Academy (Water Corporation) 2-0 to win the competition organized by Pro-Games Sports Promotions Limited.

The competition was introduced to celebrate the impact of Alyf-Salam Football Club in Kwara football, especially the owner, late Alhaji Yusuf Salami, and also to remember some of the great teams that have done the state proud before now.

Four teams participated in the competition, and they include the eventual winners, AbraySports Football Club (Super Pioneers), La Planet Sport Academia (NIPOST), Barrier Football Academy (Water Corporation) and Lasora FC (Alyuf Salam Rocks).

 NIPOST defeated Alyuf Salam Rocks to win the third place match, while Super Pioneers beat Water Corporation 2-0 to win the competition which brought out old memories of football in the state.

Victor Oyemade of Alyuf-Salam Rocks emerged as the Highest Goal Scorer of the competition, scoring two goals. Omolaye Abiodun of Super Pioneers was selected as the Most Valuable Player, while Ibrahim Kadri of Super Pioneers won the Best Goalkeeper award prize.

The Chairman of Pro-Games, Mallam Mohammed Jimoh Daudu used the opportunity to introduce two other competitions in honour of late Ahaji Ibrahim Damboyi, and late journalist, Olajide Fashikun, and donating trophies for the competitions.

The trophy for a memorial competition for late Fashikun was handed to the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), through its Chairman, Jimoh Bashir. Also honourd at the final ceremony are Coach Issa Salman, Coach Onuorah Obanye, Chairman FA, Alhaji Idris Abdullahi Musa, Hon, Gbenga Abdulwaheed, who is representing Eesa/Shawo/Igboidun at the State House of Assembly, Chairman, AbraySports FC, Hon. Yusuf Abdullahi, the Director of Football, ABS FC, Alloy Chukwuemeka, Chairman of Kwara United, Kumbi Titiloye, the Director of Sports, Mallam Alarape Atanda, the Secretary of the Council and members of Alyuf-Salam family, Ladi Salami, Alhaja Ramota Salami and Ahmed Salami, who watched the final match.
