Tokyo 2020: YSFON congratulates Team Nigeria; Calls for change of attitude in future engagements

Final of 14th YSFON/CP U-13 and U-17 soccer competitions holds Tuesday

The final matches in both the U-13 and U-17 categories of this year’s Youth Sports Federation of Nigeria (YSFON) organized Commissioner of Police Cup will come up tomorrow, Tuesday August 31st, 2021, at the Main-Bowl of the Kwara State Stadium Complex, Ilorin.

In the U-13 category, New Talents FA will take on Kwara United Academy in the final by 12 noon, while Young Atlas FA square up against La Planet FA in the final of the U-17 competition, beginning from 3.00pm.

Earlier before the final matches, Achievers FA are expected to tackle Marvellous FA by 9.00am, and Petvic Soccer College against Kwara Football Academy by 10.00am, in the third place matches in the U-13 and U-17 competitions respectively.

New Talents FA had earlier beaten Achievers FA 4-3 on penalties in the first semi-final match of the U-13 competition, after the match ended two goals apiece at regulation time, while Marvellous FA lost 0-5 to Kwara United Academy, in the second semi-final.

In the U-17 competition, Petvic Soccer College lost 1-2 to Young Atlas FA, as La Planet defeated Kwara Football Academy 3-2 on penalties, after playing out a goalless draw at regulation time.

22 youth clubs registered for the U-13 competition, and 19 for the U-17 category of the annual competition introduced to engage the youths meaningfully.

The competition started in 2004, with only the U-13 version, while the U-17 version was introduced this year, on the request of the out-gone CP, Mohammed  Lawal Bagega, who is now an AIG.Also, the current Commissioner of Police, CP Emienbo Tuesday Assayomo has added another version, named POWA Cup for Police Officers Wives Association, which will be competed among female teams in the state, from next year.

Expected to grace tomorrow’s final are Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, as the Special Guest of Honour, Alhaji (Dr) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, as the Royal Father of the day, and His Royal Highness, Oba Julius Ademola Ajibola, the Olusin of Ijara-Isin.

Others are AIG Mohammed Lawal Bagega, CP Emiembo Tuesday Assayomo as the Chief Host, while the Hosts are the Chairman of Kwara FA, Mallam Idris Abdullahi Musa and the YSFON Chairman, Mallam Ademola Kiyesola.
