Gov AbdulRazaq gives hope to Kwara para athletes

Kwara State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has promised to attend to the plight of Para Athletes in the state.

Governor AbdulRazaq gave the hint during his unscheduled visit to Kwara State Sports Council.

After listening to the plight of Felix Oyadinrin, board member Nigeria Paralympic Committee North Central, he instructed the Director of Sports, Alarape Atanda to channel their complaint to his office

Speaking with journalists in Ilorin, Felix Oyadinrin said para athletes always win medals for the state at national and international tournaments yet they are unemployment.

The Para table tennis athlete revealed that some of the athletes have been representing Kwara state for over 20 years and winning laurels at the National Sports Festival.

He said, “When the Governor gave me audience out of his tight schedule, I used the opportunity to inform him about our predicament.

“Some para athletes have been representing the state for over 20 years winning medals yet they are unemployed; this is not good for the image of the state.

“Some athletes stayed with the state despite been enticed by other state with lucrative deals.
