The newly elected Chairman of Kwara State Football Association, Mallam Idris Abdullahi Musa, popularly known as Thuraya has pledged to serve without fear or favour, as he gets set to begin second term in office.
Thuraya today, June 13th, 2023, got 19 votes out of 23, to beat his challenger, Engr Abdullateef Olaide Ahmed, to emerge as Chairman for the second time in a democratic process.
He was first elected into office in June 2019, beating three other contestants who include Alhaji Sulaiman Toyin Olokoba, Engr Idris Jibril and Alhaji Abdulrazaq Adebayo Owolabi Agbaji Wopa, yo emerge as the first person to do so from Kwara North.
While addressing Congress members, Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) representative, Alhaji Mohammed Aminu and the Electoral Committee me.bers after being sworn in, Thuraya pledged to justify the confidence reposed in him by the stakeholders, with the tremendous support he got.
“I thank you all for your support. This second term will be better, as I will serve without fear or favour. You will not regret voting me in for the second time.
The Kaiama-born Football Administrator and member of the Match Commissioners’ Appointment Committee commended the Electoral Committee for organising a free, fair and transparent elections.
Bashorun Kayode Bankole was elected unopposed as the Vice Chairman, returning to that position for the second term period.
Other Board members, all of whom emerged unopposed, are Hajia Segilola Alaya, Adeshina Bello, Wasiu Lawal, Tunde Sanni, Manzuma Maliki, Abubakar Ahmed and Salaudeen Jimoh.
In response, the stakehders, most of whom expressed confidence in the Chairman and other members, pledged their contineous support to the FA and football development in the state.
