Kwara Pillar of Sports pledges continuous support to Beach Soccer development

The Kwara state Pillar of Sports and Patron of the Kwara state Beach Soccer Association, Sir (Prince) Oladimeji Ladi Thompson has pledged to continue to support the development of sports, especially beach soccer, as a way of taking the youths off the streets.

Speaking to journalists at the end of the Day One matches in the ongoing first round of the Nigeria Beach Soccer League in Ilorin, the Vice President of the Beach Soccer in Nigeria said that youths need veritable platforms which will assist them discover and nurture their potentials, especially in sports.

“The youths need to be provided with platforms like this, which at the end of the day, may turn out to be a source of livelihood for them. They need to be meaningfully engaged, to discourage them from engaging in social vices”, he said.

“My support is also a way of giving back to the society, and complementing the efforts of the government at empowering the youths in the state, and Nigeria.

Prince Oladimeji expressed satisfaction with the standard of the league and the performance of the teams, especially the spirit of sportsmanship being exhibited by the players and their officials, explaining that the game of Beach Soccer has come to stay in Kwara.

He maintained that with improved awareness, more soccer fans will converge at the stadium to add colour and glamour to the ongoing league.

He applauded the administration of Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq for promoting sports by encouraging and sustaining an enabling environment for youths to flourish and flower.
