Kwara State Sports Commission has pledged government’s continuous support to the state’s senior basketball team, the Kwara Falcons, as they progress in their campaign in the Premier League championship.
While receiving the team on Wednesday, after their return from Akure where they participated in the Atlantic Conference Play-off, the Executive Chairman of the Commission, Mallam Bola Mogaji commended the team for doing the state proud, even as he charged them to step up preparations for the Super Eight in Lagos.
The team played eight games and lost only one, to Rivers Hoopers in the final day by 57-43 pts.

CAMAC (71-48), Lagos Isalnder (49-39), Ekiti Invaders (67-50), Coal City (56-49), and Ondo Raiders (64-42), to finish second in the Conference.
They qualify to play in the Super Eight, which will involve the best four from the two Conferences, and which has been scheduled to come up between September 26th to October 2nd, in Lagos.
Mallam Mogaji commended the coaches for raising a team in a short time, and performing excellently well at the play-off adding that the presence of the Director-General of the Commission, Dr. Steve Olarinoye in Akure was a demonstration of the confidence reposed on the team by the Commission.
Also speaking, the Director-General of the Sports Commission, Dr. Steve Olarinoye thanked the state government for its support to the team, pledging that the Commission to sustain its support to ensure the team performs in Lagos.
Responding on behalf of the team, the Captain, Ezekiel Adeyanju thanked the government and the Commission for the reception and support, adding that they team will justify the investment of the state on them in Lagos.
