Cherubim and Seraphim College, Ilorin and ECWA Secondary School, Igbaja will tomorrow, Friday January 21, 2022, fight for honours in the final of the maiden edition of Nigeria School Sports Federation (NSSF) organized Secondary Schools football competition.
The final has been scheduled for the Main-Bowl of the Kwara State Stadium Complex, beginning from 4.00pm.
Cherubim and Seraphim College defeated Government Secondary School Alawon-Oja by 3-0 in the first semi-final decided today, while ECWA Secondary School of Igbaja defeated Offa Grammar School, Offa also by the same margin, to qualify for the final.
Government Secondary School Alawon-Oja will take on Offa Grammar School in the third place decider by 8.00am tomorrow.
Eight schools, who emerged champions from their zones participated in the competition, and they are Sheikh Abdulkadri College, C&S College, Al-Lateef Model College, Oke-Opin Anglican College, Lafiagi Secondary School, Government Secondary School Alawon-Oja, ECWA Secondary School of Igbaja and Offa Grammar School.
Private and public schools in the state participated in the competition from the preliminaries, which began last term.
The final tomorrow will be witnessed by the Chairmen and members, Kwara House of Assembly for Education and that of Sports, the Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Chairman of TESCOM, the Executive Chairman of SUBEB, the Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Sports Commission, school Principals, Sports Officers and other stakeholders.
The championship is being organized under the auspices of the Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development.
