Yusuf, who also launched the club’s jersey for N250,000 said that the initiative will go a long way in assisting the club, especially in the current season.
“In a football world, every team needs support, and it varies. Some teams do shirt sponsorship, sleeve or shirt branding and all that, just to create support services.
“This is Kwara, and Kwara is our state, and Kwara United is our team. We need to support, and continue to support the team, and that’s the reason I am doing my own part.
“Most of the team’s here in Africa are government owned, but we must also understand that the private sector needs a lot to do amidst all these. In Europe, the teams are either privately owned or Community teams, and it’s a bit easier getting support from the corporate world.
Yusuf, a former player himself played the game both at home and abroad, before becoming and Administrator. He is currently the Chairman of an NLO side, AbbreySports Football Club of Ilorin, and Players’ Manager.
“Nigeria football is dynamic. It take a lot for private clubs to survive in Nigeria, but the most important thing is our engagement in transfer of players. We have to do that to survive. We have to scout for quality players, nurture them and push them to foreign markets. It’s not that easy.
