Emir of Okuta receives, blesses Kwara United FC

The Emir of Okuta and Chairman of Baruten Traditional Council, His Royal Majesty, Alhaji (Hon) Dr. Idris Abubakar (Kperogi Afon Totiri) today, August 17th, 2023, received and blessed the players and officials of Kwara United Football Club, who are on their way to Benin Republic for international friendly matches.

Describing the visit to his Palace as historic, the Emir, a former state and national hockey player and footballer said that that was.the first time the team is visiting the community, as well as the Palace.

“I feel so much concerned about Kwara United FC, and your Chairman, Kumbi Titiloye is a member of my family, and ‘a good man”, the Monarch said.

“Football is a social war, and as you are going to Benin Republic, and ahead of the 2023/2024 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season, we shall go into war with you with prayers and blessings. But, you must play a clean game.

He said that he will grace all the matches that the team will play in Benin Republic, as he has equally mobilised his people and other communities in the environ, to be there to cheer the club.

Earlier, the Chairman of Kwara United FC, Kumbi Titiloye, who presented the Emir with the club’s souvenir, thanked him for the support to the team, and also seeks for his blessings ahead of the forthcoming season.

He said that the team has continued to advance the cause of the state in the NPFL and other competitions, with the support of the state government.

While introduction the team to the Emir, the Chairman of Kwara FA, Mallam Idris Abdullahi Musa, popularly known as Thuraya described the Monarch as a lover of football and especially, Kwara United, clarifying that he has done a lot for the team.

The club’s Technical Adviser, Coach Kabir Sulaiman Dogo thanked the Emir for his support to sports, to football, and to Kwara United, adding that his prayers, and that of the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Dr Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari will assist the team greatly.

Reacting of behalf of the players, the Assistant Captain, Kabir Balogun thanked the Emir for the hospitality and support, pledging that the team will do the state proud.
