Abdul Taofeek’s goal gives Sunshine Stars win over Kwara United

Sunshine Stars today Sunday February 20, 2022 recorded a 1-0 win over visiting Kwara United in NPFL Matchday 14 encounter with Abdul Taofeek netting the winner for the hosts.

The Akure Gunners started the match aggressively and they surprisingly took the lead in the 1st minute after Kwara United central defenders, Ejeh and Deji Bamidele lost concentration.

Although the goal looked to be an offside, but the central referee ignored it and Kwara United defenders would have themselves to blame for conceding early.

After netting their goal, Sunshine Stars changed their styles of play to more defensive one with Stephen Jude and Samad Kadiri finding it hard to break their defense.

Coach Abdullahi Biffo decided to bring on Ayobami Junior and Gata in the second half, but all efforts to get the equalizer were futile as Kwara United even had no shot on target.

Kabiru Balogun had a glorious chance to restore parity for Kwara United in the 76th minute after dribbling pass goalkeeper Lawal, but he wasted the opportunity breaking the hearts of Kwara fans as Sunshine Stars went on to win.

Speaking after the match, Kwara United Chief Coach, Ashifat Sulyman stated clearly that all errors will be corrected ahead of next game.

Deji Ayeni of Sunshine Stars explained that his wards would have scored more goals against Kwara United if they had played their normal game.

Meanwhile, Kwara United engage Niger Tornadoes on Sunday in Ilorin, in a Matchday 15 encounter.
