Lobi Stars handler, Kabir Dogo laments his broken jinx against Kwara United, as the Kwara United beat Lobi Stars 2-1 in the Matchday Eight of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), decided on Wednesday in Ilorin.

Kwara United defeated Lobi Stars 2-1, with a penalty goal from Chris Nwanze, and a well taken free kick by Stephen Jude. Lobi Stars reduced the tally in the 73 minute, with a well taken drive.

Dogo, a Kwara-born gaffer, has never been beaten by Kwara United since becoming a Premier League coach, first with Abubakar Bukola Saraki FC, and later with both Sunshine Stars and Nasarawa United.

And for the past four seasons also, Lobi Stars has been having an easy ride in Ilorin.

But on Wednesday, Kwara United did not only beat Lobi Stars, but also broke the seven year old jinx of the Magaji of Odo-Okun.

‘I will want to congratulate Kwara United FC for the win, because, for the past seven years, they have not defeated my team. They have not also beaten Lobi for the past four seasons’, he said.

He said that his team put up one of their worst games so far in the league, adding that fatigue may have started affecting the players.

Kwara United coach, Abdullahi Biffo commended his team for the feat, adding that the Makurdi-based side defeated Kwara United in Ilorin last season.

Kwara United will play Sunshine Stars in Akure on Sunday.
